I bought my azul paddle and ocean going kayak last year. After 2 weeks at the beach and 5 two-hour kayak sessions in rivers near my home, we returned to the the beach and began using the paddle in the ocean again. While I was in the ocean paddle, beyond the breakers, one end of the paddle broke. It was completely without warning. The fiber just broke, then paddle portion sunk immediately and I was left in the ocean, beyond the breakers with only one side of my paddle left.
I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am with this paddle. This could have been really bad. I lost total confidence in the paddle. I had no idea that the hard plastic paddle portion was glued only about 4 inches deep into the paddle body.
I will buy an aluminum paddle next time. Stay away…your life may depend on this paddle!
